Announcing......

A Fenton Family Signing Event!!

Sunday, September 28th

Meet Scott Fenton

& Have your purchases signed!

Scott Fenton's Biography

Scott grew up working at Fenton's 100+ year old family business. He spent many summers and holidays working throughout the company as a youngster. At 16, Scott worked in the Gift Shop dusting shelves and giving tours. Then, on to Inventory Control, Shipping, Packing, Hot Metal, and finally Scott worked for his father Tom Fenton, VP Manufacturing, completing many different projects as he learned the many facets of glassmaking and started college.

Scott joined the Fenton company in 1997 after graduating from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Scott worked for his cousin, great friend and mentor, Don A. Fenton (VP Sales), until his untimely passing in 2003. Scott is now Vice President of Sales.

We will also be having a banquet dinner on Saturday evening. Scott will be speaking to us about the problems that Fenton encountered last fall,  how they worked through them, and the future of the company.

And.....

DAVE FETTY will be here as well, actually blowing off hand glass pieces in our brand new glass studio!! You will be able to purchase the items you watch  Dave make!!

A skilled glassworker, Dave Fetty retired in 1999 after more than 40 years in the glass industry. Dave came to Fenton in 1964 after learning the trade in Milton, WV, at the Blenko Glass Company, where he began as a carrying-in boy when he was 19. Dave's mentor at Blenko was glassworker "Shorty" Finley, who taught Dave many of the skills needed to make glass off-hand (without moulds).

In the mid-1970s, Dave worked with glass artisan Robert Barber, helping to design and create some of Fenton's first limited edition pieces. In 1998, Dave taught a "pulled feather" technique to other glassworkers, and he supervised them as they produced the vase for the 1998 Connoisseur Collection. Dave continues to design pieces for Fenton's limited edition lines.

Even after his "official" retirement, Dave has continued to contribute to Fenton. Never at a loss for ideas, Dave handcrafts limited editions of off-hand pieces based on his mood and inspiration.

We are planning a full day of activities, including glass ID . we are still working on ideas, so check back often for updates ! make your plans now to attend!!
